In order to ensure that students are on track academically, we implement benchmark assessments in the areas of literacy and math. These assessments occur minimally three times per year and progress monitoring may occur in between periods if needed.
All QRSD elementary schools offer a robust Multi Tiered System of Support for academics. Based upon review of student data, students may be provided with additional interventions and enrichment opportunities.
Third Grade is the first year that students will participate in our Statewide Assessment System- MCAS (Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System). QRSD believes that the best way to prepare our students to be successful on these assessments is to implement high quality curriculum and differentiate our instruction for all learners each and every day. That being said as the assessment is new for Third Graders each year, we do offer practice activities to help them enter the assessment with more confidence. We teach them about the tools available to them and show them what the assessment looks like, etc.
