The Oakham Center School serves students in grades kindergarten through grade 5 from Oakham and New Braintree. This reconfiguration maximizes the academic opportunity for these students with team teaching and more balanced class sizes, providing more social opportunities for the children and strengthened curriculum to meet individual needs of the students.

When you walk through the doors of Oakham Center School you will be greeted with smiles and open arms. Everyone is welcome at OCS. The faculty at Oakham Center School are dedicated, passionate, and motivated.

Our curriculum is based on the Massachusetts Learning Standards. They represent a promise of equitable education for all students. Students engage with their classroom teacher and in addition they participate in a variety of special classes each week which include: physical education, music, art and STEM. Each student at Oakham Center School has their own laptop (chromebook) assigned to them and they can access these for literacy, math, science, reading, and enrichment activities on a daily basis.  Students enjoy recess out on the playground, a basketball court and a baseball/soccer field.

Students and staff engage in many fun and exciting activities such as Community Reading Day, Reading Buddies, walk to the library, walk to school on Wednesdays, pen pals with the seniors, Girls on the Run, a walking trail, spirit weeks, field trips and assemblies.

We are fortunate to have an active Parent Teacher Organization which meets on a monthly basis. The PTO supports the school in a variety of ways which include, Bingo for Books, movie afternoons, spring dances, book fair, and they support student and staff needs throughout the school year.

Oakham Center School houses a before and after school program called “Champions” which serves as an Extended Day Program, opening at 6:30 am and closing at 6:00 pm. Students have opportunities to attend during school vacations and summer camps at other sites in the district.

The youth of Oakham and New Braintree participate in the Quabbin-area recreation leagues including soccer, basketball, baseball and softball.
